Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors were the best players in the opening week of the 2014-2015 National Basketball Association (NBA) Season even as the pair led their respective teams to perfect records to start the year. For their efforts, Bosh and Thompson were named the NBA Player of The Week for the Eastern and Western Conference, respectively.

Both Miami and Golden State went 3-0 to start the new season. Other undefeated teams include the Houston Rockets (4-0) and Memphis Grizzlies (4-0) entering Tuesday’s schedule of games.

Both Bosh and Thompson signed huge contract extensions to stay with their respective teams during the offseason— Bosh ($118.71 million for 5 years) way back in July and Thompson ($70 million for four years) just before the Oct. 31 deadline— and both looked to prove they deserved those contracts.

The 30-year-old Bosh opened the year with a big double-double of 26 points and 15 rebounds in a 106-95 win over the Washington Wizards on Oct. 29. He shot efficiently from the field— 9-of-18 overall and 3-of-4 from behind the arc and also added 4 assists, a steal and a blocked shot. Bosh did even better with 30 markers (9/17 FG) in their next game in a 114-96 blowout victory over the lowly Philadelphia 76ers on Nov. 1. Finally, Bosh had another double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds against former team, Toronto Raptors in their game last Sunday.

Meanwhile, Thompson got off to a roaring start by averaging 29.7 points per game in his first three games— the scoring average is the highest in the NBA after a week of action. The half of the “Splash Brothers” exploded for 41 points against the lowly Los Angeles Lakers in a 127-104 blowout win last Saturday. The 24-year-old missed just four of 18 field goal attempts in that game and made 5-of-7 from the three-point area. Thompson followed up that game with a 29-point performance in a 95-90 win over the Portland Trail Blazers last Sunday.
