A seasoned Manchester United striker doesn’t like what has been happening lately despite the club being thrilled about Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival.

It has been like a dream come true at Old Trafford these past few days as Ronaldo closes in on his Manchester United return.

However, veteran striker Edinson Cavani has been “unhappy” with him being a castaway due to the decision by English Premier League clubs “not to allow players to play in red list countries in next month's internationals,” Manchester Evening News reported.

The report added that the Uruguay football association confirmed on Monday that they had canceled Cavani's inclusion in the country’s World Cup qualifiers against Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador.

Moreover, being left out in the Manchester United’s squad that traveled to Southampton on August 22 also added to the 34-year-old’s “dissatisfaction.”

More importantly, Manchester United is hoping Cavani will not be tempted to leave for another club and decides to stay “beyond Tuesday's transfer deadline,” the report added.

Cavani finished the past season with an impressive tally of 10 goals and three assists. However, things could be a lot different this time when Manchester United returnee Ronaldo finally arrives.

Ronaldo and Cavani are both widely known for being strikers, and it is very likely that the pair will have to fight for playing time this season.

Ahead of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s highly-anticipated Manchester United debut, club manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already confirmed that he wants Ronaldo to score goals playing “more of a center-forward.”

“Everyone that cares for Man United wanted it to happen,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports of Ronaldo’s return. “The biggest thing is that Cristiano wanted to come here.”

“Cristiano has evolved as a player,” he added. “He has played wide right, wide left, upfront. He is more of a center-forward for me at the moment. There will be games where we play two up front, three upfront. But I want him in the box, I want him scoring goals.”

Aside from the front, Solskjaer earlier hinted that the midfield will also be adjusted from time to time, depending on who is the primary striker on the pitch.

"Of course we’ve looked at ways of getting one of the two to go forward,” the manager explained. “That’s something that Scott [McTominay] is very good at, Paul [Pogba] is good at and Donny is good at, but it’s not as easy as that as it depends on who you've got in front of you."
