Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet broke his silence about being dropped as Reds no. 1, stating that he will strive to do what it takes to regain his spot.

The 26-year-old Belgian international was kept helpless on the bench against Manchester United and Arsenal, but came on in their recent fixture against Burnley to replace Bradley Jones, who picked up a thigh injury.

"I don't have to prove anything. The only thing I can do is work hard and do my best and show what I am capable of on the pitch," he said.

He revealed that he had a one-on-one talk with Brendan Rodgers concerning the aforesaid matter, and it turned out to be something that could be built upon as he copes with his demotion.

"We spoke together and cleared up a few things and I think that was a positive discussion," he added.

"I will not discuss what we spoke about but it was an honest meeting, why not? It is always a positive thing."

"Sometimes you have to make something positive from a negative thing like going out of the team, which I've tried to do."

"You can reflect on your game and look at certain things where maybe, with the busy period we've had, you wouldn't have had the chance, and that is what I have done. You learn a lot and you can move on and hopefully we can build on that."

With Liverpool having only Mignolet is expected to start on Tuesday (AEST) in lieu of the sidelined Jones, as they host Swansea City for their final game of 2014.
