NBA Twitter wars are more fun especially if your teams are going to meet days after the not-so-friendly banters. The New York Knicks visit the Detroit Pistons Tuesday night with J.R. Smith and Brandon Jennings finally facing off after their little social media skirmish last Thursday.

Jennings (@BrandonJennings) initiated this exchange with the tweet; “Wait wait wait JR smith brother is in the NBA but @PoohJeter & @BBROWNLAU isn't. Call me hater but not Rollin!!!”

The 24-year-old point guard did delete the tweet but Smith (@TheRealJRSmith), who apparently read the tweet already, reacted with a pair of posts which got him another $25,000 fine from the NBA:

“No respect for these lil kids who pop at the mouth on twitter an then want to delete they tweets! #GrowUp! #ManUp @TheOnlyCSmith0 #Facts!”

“"Might call some of my Number street homies an put #Detroit on smash for a min! #DeadSerious."

Twitter wars aside, the game is an important one the Knicks and Pistons, who both sport a 3-6 win-loss card. New York has lost three of its last four games while the Pistons have lost five of their last six outings.

Both are also coming off embarrassing blowout losses. The Knicks lost at home, 110-90 to the Atlanta Hawks and the Pistons on the road, 114-99 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jennings actually had a very good game against L.A. finishing with 23 points and 14 assists. Meanwhile, Smith had a bad outing shooting just 3-of-18 from the field for seven points.

For the season, Detroit relies on Jennings (18.3 PPG, 7.3 APG and 2.0 SPG), Greg Monroe (16.4 PPG and9.2 RPG), Josh Smith (16.2 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 3.2 APG, 1.8 SPG and 1.7 BPG) and Andre Drummond (12.2 PPG and 12.1 RPG).

The Knicks rely on veterans Carmelo Anthony (25.8 PPG - 4th in the NBA), Andrea Bargnani (15.1 PPG) and Raymond Felton (11.1 PPG and 5.2 APG).
