Easter isn't looking very merry for many this year as many have cancelled trips this weekend due to the ongoing fuel crisis.

Rain is also forecasted for almost every state and territory this weekend, putting a damper on what should be a happy time for everyone.

Easter Trips Cancelled Due to Fuel Crisis

According to a report by ABC News, trip cancellations have surged ahead of the upcoming Easter weekend.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland Chief Executive Mark Olsen said that "Marine tourism, bus tours, and accommodation providers are all feeling the squeeze."

Olsen noted that many businesses have seen costs go up by as much as 50 to 60 per cent, fueled largely by the ongoing crisis.

Even Sydney's largest boarding facility for cats is seeing cancellations as people are now opting to stay home with their pets.

"People are cancelling," said Michael Syms, who runs the boarding facility. "They're not wanting to head out to New South Wales country areas because they're worried they won't get fuel and be able to get back."

"I had a client that said he's got enough fuel to get there, but he doesn't know when he'll be able to come back," he added.

Rain Forecasted for Easter Weekend

Most of Australia won't be experiencing sunny weather during the Easter weekend either.

According to a report by 9News, some states and territories are expected to experience scattered showers. Others may get heavier rainfall.
