A hooligan charged at a goalkeeper during a Dutch football match Wednesday night but was knocked down and kicked by the player. The referee then gave the goalie a red card angering his team, who then walked out canceling the game.

The incident happened during the 38th minute of the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) Cup game between Alkmaar Zaanstreek and Ajax.

Ajax was ahead, 1-0, when the 19-year-old hooligan identified as Wesley entered the field and ran towards Costa Rican goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado in an apparent attack. Alvarado parried a kick by the attacker, who lost his balance, and started kicking the fallen teenager.

The referee gave Esteban a red card for his misconduct raising a howl of protest from his team. AZ head coach Gertjan Verbeek then ordered all his players to walk out.

Officials learned that Wesley had been banned from the Arena stadium for previous hooliganism but was able to enter using a ticket of another person. An eyewitness also overheard the teen, who has the initial ACAB (All Cops Are Bastards) tattooed on his back, saying he would spoil the match to be on the newspaper, according to Telegraaf.

On Thursday, the KNVD withdrew the red card because of the circumstance, though it agreed with the action of the referee. The football association will also decide next week if the match will be replayed or not.
