Brandon Jennings shot an atrocious field goal clip all night but hit the game-winner with a fraction of a second to go to lead the rising Detroit Pistons past the San Antonio Spurs, 105-104 on the road on Tuesday night. The Pistons have now won six in a row and 6-0 since cutting Josh Smith from their roster to improve to 11-23 for the season.

The Spurs led by a single point with five seconds to go but veteran big man Tim Duncan turned the ball over in an inbound pass that led to the Jenning’s game-winner. San Antonio also led big— as much as 18 points or 54-36— late in the first half but Detroit found a way to come back and steal the victory.

Jennings shot 5-of-18 from the field but his fifth one was all that matters in a game where he also had 7 assists, a steal and a blocked shot. Andre Drummond also had a monster outing with 20 points and 17 rebounds, seven of which coming from the offensive glass. Greg Monroe added his own double-double of 17 points and 10 boards while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope started at shooting guard with 10 points. The Pistons also got help from their reserves; D.J. Augustin had 19 points and Jodie Meeks added 13 markers.

Detroit’s head coach Stan Van Gundy admitted postgame via ESPN.com that they “got lucky at the end” but appreciated his players’ efforts to stay with the defending champions until the final buzzer. San Antonio has now lost eight of their last dozen games.

Tony Parker returned from an injury but only played in 13 minutes to finish with 3 points (0/3 FGs). Seven players scored in double-figures for San Antonio led by Jeff Ayres, who came off the bench, with 16 markers. Duncan had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots while Danny Green contributed 13 points on 3-of-5 three-point shooting.

Upcoming Schedule (Next 3 Games):
