Morena Baccarin has reportedly been confirmed to star alongside Ryan Reynolds in “Deadpool.” The actress has landed the role of Deadpool’s love interest in the movie.

An exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter confirms Morena Baccarin has landed the female lead in “Deadpool.” According to the site, she will portray the yet unknown character of Ryan Reynold’s love interest who struggles with falling in love for a man with such a hideously scarred face. Reynolds as Deadpool, on the other hand, plays an assassin “who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer that ends up leaving him twisted and scarred but also imbued with superpowers.”

Morena Baccarin, who, according to Galactic News One, is the voice behind Dr Well’s computer Gideon on “The Flash,” was among the contenders to play Ryan Reynold’s love interest in “Deadpool.” Previous names of actresses associated with the role include Taylor Shilling (“Orange Is The New Black”), Sarah Greene (“Vikings”), Jessica De Gouw (“Arrow”), Crystal Reed (“Teen Wolf”) and Rebecca Rittenhouse (“Red Band Society”).

Cinema Blend writer Mike Reyes once vouched for Sarah Greene for the female lead. He claims she may not be popularly known for her role in History Channel’s “The Vikings,” but she is said to be a multi-faceted actress, having done performances on stage and on screen. Reyes said casting her opposite Ryan Reynolds would have brought out only the best performance out of the actor.

It’s still uncertain which female lead character Morena Baccarin will play in “Deadpool.” According to a Deadpool Wiki, Deadpool has only met eight women over the years. These include Domino, Copycat, Lady Deadpool, Black Widow, Outlaw, Squirrel Girl, Anaconda and Death. CB readers supposed Baccarin as Ryan Reynold’s love interest could either be playing Siren, Copycat or Domino.

Morena Baccarin joins other casts in “Deadpool” including T.J. Miller and Gina Carano, who’s said to portray the role of Angel Dust. The film is directed by Tim Miller and is slated for a U.S. release on February 2016. Simon Kinberg with Lauren Shuler Donner is producing the film, with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick as scriptwriters.
