Dakota Johnson is one of the most popular stars in Hollywood today, considering her sultry role in the recently released film “Fifty Shades of Grey”. Access Hollywood reported that the 25-year-old prepared to take on the role of Anastacia Steele by getting in shape for the love scenes.

Johnson shared, “I thought beforehand that I would get in shape because mostly like, it was kind of athletic shooting those scenes. You weirdly need endurance. But also, I wanted Ana's body to look like that of a fairly active college student."

According to the actress, her favorite cardiovascular exercise to prepare for the role was running. She said in the same Hollywood Access report, “Jamie [Dornan] and I worked out with a trainer and it was mostly maintaining the same level of energy and eating healthy.”

HealthyCeleb reported that Johnson also eliminated junk food and processed foods from her diet. She preferred to go on a juice diet because it is clean and full of nutrients. She relied on cleanse juice and raw fruit juice. She shared that she changed the variety of the fruits, herbs and vegetables in her diet from apple, ginger and lemon to cucumber and orange. She said that the juices were good in keeping her energy up as well as detoxifying her body. Increasing water intake was also a great way to maintain energy and stay hydrated during long working hours.

Johnson also tried other fitness activities to keep her in shape and ready for the nude scenes in the film. Yoga is a good exercise that helped the actress both mentally and physically. Yoga is ideal to get rid of stress and anxiety when filming long hours. Yoga can burn 400 to 600 calories every hour. Resistance-training is also good in increasing strength and gaining more lean body mass.

Dakota Johnson was within her ideal weight before she embarked on her workouts to star in “Fifty Shades of Grey,” but running and strength training, aside from a low-calorie and low-fat diet significantly helped her achieve the slender and toned figure she needed for the role.
