Celtics Offer To Schroder Could Be Best For Now

Dennis Schroder has a decision to make, and he has to do it soon.

So far, the only team interested in taking in the German guard appears to be the Boston Celtics.

According to sources, the Celtics have reportedly dangled a one-year deal, Brian Robb of Masslive.com reported.

However, the report further added that a possible two-year deal is on the table. The second year would be a player option. The best offer the Celtics can offer Schroder is the full mid-level exception, which would pay the 27-year-old $9.5 million.

Assuming that this goes down, Celtics president Brad Stevens needs to tweak the team’s finances to make sure that they stay below the hard cap.

The only other option available for the Cs is the mid-level of $5.89 million.

Regardless of which deal is handed to Schroder, it will be far off from his desired $25 million a year demand.

The closest he got was that $84 million contract extension from the Lakers last season.

Most know that Schroder turned that down, thinking he got get bigger pay this summer.

Nothing has come close to that so far, and the chances of him getting compensated much less than his last contract are getting lower by the day.

Schroder earned $15.5 million last season with the Lakers, the last year of the original $70 million four-year deal the German signed while he was still with the Atlanta Hawks.

So unless Schroder is ready to let the Celtics' interest and offer pass, the chances of him getting a good deal are diminishing by the day.

With Boston, Schroder could be a good fit as the Celtics need a point guard following the exit of Kemba Walker.

The German guard averaged 15.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in 61 games with the Lakers last season.
