The Blackberry Priv might already be in the tech market but how it keeps-up in an industry dominated by Samsung, Google and Apple remains unclear. Still, avid users of the Canadian retailer’s phone were delighted to know a new smartphone is on its way.

The Blackberry Priv is the company's very first smartphone to run on an Android OS. Consumers in the United States and Canada can now preorder the device through ShopBlackBerry.

Although the device is available for preorder in the U.S., there are rumors it won’t function well on Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular. That could only mean that the Blackberry Priv will have to be on T-Mobile or AT&T for it to work in the U.S., according to NDTV Gadgets.

Meanwhile, users in the United Kingdom can preorder the unit via ShopBlackBerry UK and Carphone Warehouse. Those in Germany can access the preorder period through Saturn, Media Markt, and Amazon Germany.

GSM Arena has also reported the Blackberry Priv somehow made its way to the Netherlands, a country not included in the Canadian tech giant's preorder list. The much awaited Blackberry device has popped-up in GSMwijzer and Student Mobile. The listing on these websites reveals a price of $1,218.

Unfortunately, those in others areas in Europe will have to wait longer. Although no information has been given about release dates, price and other specs, updates will be posted on Blackberry Blogs in real time.

Soon enough, Blackberry users in other European nations will also get the chance to enjoy their own Blackberry Priv once the device is made available to their markets.

The upcoming Blackberry Priv is reportedly the company's best attempt to save its failing market relevance. Collaborating with Google's mobile operating system just might do the trick.
