Australia is going to play against Germany in March. The Football Federation Australia confirmed that the Socceroos would clash against the world champion in Kaiserslautern.

According to the FFA confirmation, the Australian football team will face the world champion squad at Fritz-Walter-Stadion on Mar. 25, 2015. This will be considered a part of the preparation for Australia, which will start playing the 2018 FIFA World Cup Asian qualification matches from June 2015. This match will also serve as a measuring opportunity for the Socceroos. According to coach Ange Postecoglou, Aussie players will have an opportunity to check out where they stand against the world champions.

"Germany are the world champions and have many exceptional players, so it's a privilege for the Socceroos to face the best on their turf," Postecoglou said as quoted by ABC News. "They are number one because of what they have built in junior development and elite academies over the past 15 years, and there are many lessons we can learn from their approach." The Australian coach also said that the World Cup qualification campaign in Asia would be "very tough."

The Kaiserslautern match will be an ideal preparation, Postecoglou added. The international friendly will also be a warmup opportunity for Joachim Löw's team. Germany is going to play against the Socceroos only four days before it plays against Georgia in a Euro 2016 qualifier. Even though Australia is ranked 102nd in the world and Germany is at the top of the list, the Socceroos has defeated Germany before. There were four occasions when Australia met Germany face to face. Germany turned out to be the winner on three occasions while Australia won the other.

Australia is going to start its international campaign in 2015 by playing its 2015 AFC Asian Cup Group A match against Kuwait at home. The Melbourne match will be held on Jan.15. Australia will play the other two group matches against South Korea and Oman. The match against Oman will be held in Sydney on Jan. 13, while the Socceroos will play against South Korea in Brisbane on Jan. 17.
