Roger Federer is one of the most successful tennis players of all time. Federer has received a number of accolades and won so many awards, which is why many people hold admiration for him. Jeremy Chardy, 34th-ranked French professional tennis player, has recently said in an interview that the 17-time Grand Slam champion is his favourite tennis player.

Chardy sat with Stuart Fraser of Mail Online ahead of his participation in the 2014 Stockholm Open for an interview where he tackled a number of things. On the topic of playing doubles with any tennis player in history, Chardy was quick to response and said that he would love to play doubles with Federer. He added the Swiss is his "favourite player."

"Such a nice person and I love the way he plays," Chardy said.

Chardy has played against Federer only twice. Their meetings took place in the current season and their head-to-head record is 1-1. Their first meeting was in the semifinals of the 2014 Brisbane International. Chardy lost to Federer, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-3. Chardy avenged his defeat to the Swiss in the Round 32 of the 2014 Rome Masters. Chardy shocked Federer, 1-6, 6-3, 7-6( 6), in the clay court tournament.

Meanwhile, Chardy is currently competing in the 2014 If Stockholm Open. Chardy enters the tournament as the sixth seed. He defeated 18-year-old Swedish athlete Elias Ymer in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

Other players who won the Stockholm openers include Argentine Leonardo Mayer, who defeated American Donald Young, 6-4, 6-4. Fernando Verdasco of Spain also triumphed in the first round after beating Marinko Matosevic of Australia, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Romanian qualifier Marius Copil upset eight-seeded Portuguese Joao Sousa 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-4. Adrian Mannarino of France beat Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. Another qualifier Matthias Bachinger of Germany also snatched a win over Igor Sijsling of Netherlands, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.

Bulgarian athlete Grigor Dimitrov is the reigning champion of the If Stockholm Open. Dimitrov beat David Ferrer in 2013. The winner of the tournament will bring home prize money worth $120,000. The tournament will run from Oct. 13 to Oct. 19.
