“Westworld” season 2 is not returning on air until 2018, but some cast members have already confirmed their comeback as early as now. Fans will be delighted to know that fan-favourite characters are set to return, including Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and Man and in Black (Ed Harris) among others.

In an interview with Indie Wire, the actress has confirmed that she is sure to return for “Westworld” season 2. She said she could not be more excited to reprise her role next season. “No one’s more excited than me to come back. I guarantee it! That’s the only clue I’m going to give you,” she said.

The actress has also teased that she knows a little about what is coming in “Westworld” season 2. She said the first instalment has been much like a backstory for the real story next season.“I think season 2 is really going to be warp speed. The show might really start in season 2,” she said.

Wood plays Dolores, the oldest host in the Westworld park. Dolores goes all the way back with the Man in Black. In Westworld” season 1, she is revealed to have shared history with him as he has been her long-time visitor. Dolores calls the Man in Black her “very old friend” William, a man who has been fascinated by her.

It seems the story of their friendship will continue as Ed Harris, the actor playing the Man in Black, confirmed he will be reprising his role in “Westworld” season 2. Harris revealed that he and show creators Jonah Nolan and Lisa Joy have discussed details and said they are doing more than 10 episodes for the second season.

“I was just talking to Jonah Nolan last night ... and yeah, they’re doing another season. They’re going to do 10 more episodes, and I will be involved,” Harris revealed through BBC Radio 4.

Another character that will be making a comeback next season is Jeffrey Wright (Bernard Lowe/Arnold Weber). He is the head of the Westworld Programming Division and apparently also a host. Anthony Hopkins (Dr Robert Ford) might also be coming back next season. In “Westworld” season 1 finale, Dolores shot him in the head while he was making his speech. Though Ford appeared dead, some fans believe that the doctor is not yet saying goodbye to the show.

But Nolan gave no assurance as far as Hopkins’ return is concerned. "Working with Anthony Hopkins on this season of TV has been one of the greatest pleasures and privileges for Lisa and I in our careers. It’s been an incredible experience, and we’ll see where our story takes us," he told Variety.

Official air date for “Westworld” season 2 is not yet announced. The show’s first season aired on Foxtel in Australia.
