Tottenham Hotspur Boss Mauricio Pochettino is still hopeful that Roberto Soldado will be able to turn his season around in spite of failing to deliver the goods, thus far.

The Spanish striker missed all of his three shots against Partizan Belgrade in their Europa League clash, but Pochettino believes that the former Valencia man just lacked a bit of luck to end up being on the scoresheet.

"We need to give him the chances to play again and keep him calm," said the Argentine tactician.

"A striker always wants to score but against Partizan he created chances pretty well and was unlucky in front of goal. Maybe next time he will score."

"We work very hard at training and create the exercises for him to improve his finishing in front of goal, but he created many chances and was unlucky not to score (against Partizan)."

"In football it's always mental and emotions, performances, physical condition, all these things affect your performance, but his performance was very good. For me, he was unlucky with his finishing."

It remains to be seen, however, whether Pochettino will still prefer Soldado over Harry Kane or Emmanuel Adebayor, who is returning from a knock, in their Premier League outing opposite Everton on Monday (AEST).
