Clad in space-briefs and tank top, a new image of Sandra Bullock floating in a space shuttle has been released from Alfonso Cuaron's latest space-set film, Gravity.

Gravity is Alfonso Cuaron's latest offer after a seven-year hiatus from making a major film. His last feature was 2006's Children of Men, also a science fiction movie that was nominated for three Academy Awards.

Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a medical engineer who is on her first Space Shuttle mission with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky, played by George Clooney, when their shuttle was destroyed by space debris. The two were left stranded in space in their spacesuits and have to force themselves to cooperate to make their way back to earth.

According to the Mexican director, the anti-gravity effect took five years to perfect before CGI could complete the process.

"We wanted to shoot the whole film showing zero gravity with the actors moving in a choreographic way. This has never been done before. It was a journey of learning. But it looks pretty darn good," he said in an interview with USA Today.

Producer David Heyman also noted the physical strain of the production. "Sandra had to be in tremendous shape for this kind of filming," he said.

Gravity will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 28th. It will be shown in Australia on October 3rd.
