Amanda Seyfried plays the title character in Jeffrey Friedman and Rob Epstein's Lovelace, which chronicles the life of Linda Boreman, who became an infamous porn star after changing her name to Linda Lovelace and starring in the 1972 porn film sensation Deep Throat.

Lovelace also stars Peter Saarskard as her abusive husband/manager Chuck, Juno Temple, Adam Brody, Sarah Jessica Parker, Chloe Sevigny, and cameos from Sharon Stone and James Franco as Hugh Hefner.

The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last January. The Hollywood reporter gave a glimpse on the life of Lovelace, both in the movie and in real life, in a review from the festival.

"Her story is a sad, depressing and degrading one, so grim at times that one wonders if there’s any edification to be had from it. To say that Lovelace provides uplift by the end would be an exaggeration, but the fact that the one-time victim did not succumb but, rather, stabilized her life and eventually fought back in every way she could provide a sense of vindication."

“There’s an idea of her is this one-dimensional character who has this talent for deep-throating,” Seyfried said in an interview with Variety. “It’s a story about a woman trying to define herself,” Epstein added.

This is only the first of two films made about Linda Lovelace's life. Director Matthew Wilder's Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story is in development. Malin Akerman will portray as Linda and Matt Dillon as Chuck.

Theatrical release date of Lovelace in Australia has not been confirmed.
