Scotland will host the 40th edition of Ryder Cup. It will be the second time that the Northern Great Britain Island will host the golf tournament, which was first held at Muirfield 41 years ago. The greatest golfers from Great Britain and the U.S. will play at the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland from Sept. 26 to Sept. 28.

European Team

Captain - Paul McGinley

It will be McGinley's seventh appearance in the tournament. McGinley first played at the Ryder Cup in 2002, where they won. He also competed in 2004, 2006, and in 2010 and 2012, where he was chosen as the Vice Captain. According to the Irish Independent, McGinley already has a plan how his team can defend the title. He will reportedly have a meeting with some of the members of the team on Sept. 23 to give them a handout that contains information and some images about what to expect in terms of infrastructure at the 2014 venue.

Vice Captains - Des Smith, Sam Torrance, Jose Maria Olazabal, Padraig Harrington, and Miguel Angel Jimenez.

Members - Thomas Bjorn, Jamie Donaldson, Victor Dubuisson, Stephen Gallacher, Sergio Garcia, Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson, and Lee Westwood.

Team USA

Captain - Tom Watson

Watson has played for the Ryder Cup for four times (1977, 1981, 1983, and 1989). In a recent interview via the Golf Channel, Watson admitted that the reason why their opponents carried the day and triumphed in seven of the last nine Ryder Cup was because the Europeans simply played better. Watson has said that the recipe to win is to play with all their hearts. He said that the most vital thing to do is to remain focused with their goal and that is to "hit the best possible shot every time."

Vice Captains - Raymond Floyd, Andy North, and Steve Stricker.

Members - Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Hunter Mahan, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Webb Simpson, Jordan Spieth, and Bubba Watson.

Will the European Team be able to complete their hat-trick of consecutive wins or will the American Team be able to win since 2008?
