‘Prison Break’ revival: Scofield’s most-trusted pal returns, will say ‘papi’ again

First, none of the previous cast members of “Prison Break” confirmed their return. Then one by one, they are feeling nostalgic and confirming their return. After Dominic Purcell (Lincoln) and Wentworth Miller (Scofield) said they are returning after a lot of scheduling issues, Sarah Wayne Callies (Dr. Sara Tancredi) said yes to a “Prison Break” reboot. Now, Amaury Nolasco (Fernando Sucre) has given his word of return via Instagram.

“It's Official !!! #Sucre is back with the gang ! Buckle up ! Looking forward to seeing my brothers again. #prisonbreak #blessed #lovemyjob #Sucre regresa con la ganga ! Prepárense ! Loco por ver a mis hermanos otra vez !,” Nolasco captioned a “Prison Break” photo.

Nolasco is all set to reprise his role as Sucre for the nine-episode “Prison Break” revival. The cellmate with a heart of gold and Scofield’s most-trusted pal posted the above photo from an old episode. Nolasco co-stars on the NBC comedy series “Telenovela.”

Shooting is scheduled to begin next month though deals are still pending for other returning players such as Rockmond Dunbar, Paul Adelstein and Robert Knepper. “Prison Break” revival will be executive-produced by original producers Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein, Neal Moritz and Dawn Olmstead, reports Deadline. Production is set to begin next month in Vancouver.

Fox TV CEO and co-chair Dana Walden had earlier said in January that the “Prison Break” reboot won’t be a domestic show but will unravel on an international landscape. She promised all the twists and turns in the new show that fans had come to love and appreciate.

Callies also broke the news via Instagram with the caption, “The question was #prisonbreak - the answer is yes.” She currently stars in USA Network’s “Colony” and was a former member of “The Walking Dead” squad.

It was previously announced that Tancredi would be seen in the new season as settled with new husband Scott Ness (Mark Feurstein). However, tensions may appear between the two when Tancredi will find out that Scofield is alive. Details of how Scofield returns from the dead have been kept under wraps and nobody knows how he will deal with his brain tumour.

The exact airing date of “Prison Break” revival hasn’t been announced yet. However, it might air late this year or in 2017.
