Colt McCoy will be staying with the Washington Redskins for another season after signing a one-year deal with the team. Adam Scheffer, NFL Insider for ESPN, reported the deal on Tuesday and the quarterback will be competing again against QBs Kirk Cousins and Robert Griffin III in the Washington Roster.

In five games for the Redskins last season, McCoy passed for 1,057 yards on 91 of 128 completions, or a 71.1 completion percentage, with four touchdowns and three interceptions. He previously played for the Cleveland Browns from 2010 to 2012 and had a four-gamstint with the San Francisco 49ers in 2013.

McCoy won his first two games for the Redskins, helping the team beat the Tennessee Titans, 19-17 in Week 7 and the Dallas Cowboys, 20-17 in overtime in Week 8. McCoy lost his next three starts against the Indianapolis Colts, 49-27, St. Louis Rams, 24-0 and New York Giants, 24-13 from Week 13 to Week 15. He missed the rest of the season with an injury but was supposed to start for the team.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden announced earlier in the offseason that Griffin III or RG3 is the starter of the team but with Griffin’s injury history, Cousins and McCoy make take over the starting QB spot in the upcoming season.
