San Francisco 49ers quarterback is not on the trading block declares the team’s general manager Trent Baalke, who disputed rumours that their star QB is available for other teams to acquire in this offseason of the National Football League, or NFL.

"Colin [Kaepernick] is our quarterback and we are excited to have him," Baalke said in an official statement in the team’s official website. "He is not going anywhere. The media reports suggesting otherwise are without merit and quite frankly ridiculous.”

Jayson Braddock of KBME SportsTalk 790 in Houston was one of the first who started the Kaepernick trade rumours and saying that teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears were interested in making a deal with the 49ers. Braddock’s claim has been completely debunked after the 49ers’ GM statement.

The 49ers chose not to extend veteran running back Frank Gore’s contract with the team in addition to firing head coach Jim Harbaugh and replacing him with Jim Tomsula. Other 49ers who are rumoured to be leaving the team are linebacker Patrick Willis and Justin Smith, both of whom are reported considering retirement early in their NFL careers. The major changes in the 49ers camp have fuelled speculations that San Francisco is in rebuild mode and will consider trading away key assets like Kaepernick.

The 27 year old Kaepernick is will be playing in his fifth year in San Francisco and is in the second year of a six-year extension he signed last June 2014. Last season, Kaepernick had career high of 3,369 passing yards on 289 of 478 completions, or a 60.5 completion rate with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Known as an effective dual QB, Kaepernick also rushed for 639 yards, another career-high, on 104 carries with a touchdown.

Kaepernick has been the starter of the team for the last three seasons and was rewarded the extension worth more than $110 million and $61 million guaranteed making the trade unlikely in this offseason.
