Newest Apple Australian Store Opens In Brisbane's CBD

The newest Apple Australian store opens to the public this week. It will be situated in the MacArthur Chambers Building in Brisbane's CBD.

According to the MacWorld.com.au, Apple has its unique way of choosing the 10-storey sandstone site since it comes with a relevant history in the US. It is known to have been built somewhere between 1931 and 1934 and first served as the headquarters of the Australian Mutual Provident Society.

In 1942, U.S. General Douglas MacArthur took over and used the site as his base for the Pacific campaign during the World War II. The name was changed after the general's name. His office even became his personal tribute and offered for public visits and viewing about three times each week.

CRN added the new Apple Australian store will be the tech giant's 21st store in the land of Down Under. The company already has a couple of stores within the Brisbane and Gold Coast shopping centers with the Brisbane outlet as the third among the street front stores in the country.

"Queen Street is the city's retail heart, so we fully expect the store to become one of the busiest in the country," Apple's Vice President for Worldwide stores Steve Cano said to the Courier Mail.

Cano added the newest Apple Australia store will have the Apple Genius Bar and a wide range of their products, including their offerings of personalized services and artistic workshops. However, its opening may cause a negative effect on the other Apple resellers located within the Queensland capital and those around the CBD area. Apparently, it will hurt the most the Next Byte, the Apple Premium Reseller of the country located in Adelaide. It can be reached about 5 minutes from the MacArthur Chambers.

The leaked photographs spreading online showed some tweaks on its three level restoration by adding more windows and even a brand new stairway. The newest Apple Australian store is set to open 10 a.m. Jan. 17 and will close at 9 p.m. Its official Web site is already entertaining various appointments and reservations for the workshops to be held in the Genius Bar.
