The Dodgers are fighting for their postseason survival, having been beaten by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first two games of the 2013 National League Championship Series. The Cardinals ground out a grueling 3-2 win against the Dodgers at Busch Stadium in a game lasting 13 innings and almost five hours. The following day, the Cardinals repeated, 1-0, in a thankfully much shorter game.

The series goes to Los Angeles's Dodger Stadium on Monday night for Games 3 to 5. But before the first pitch is thrown, we will review the series as it happened.

Game One: Veteran slugger Carlos Beltran hit all three runs for St. Louis, two in the third inning and the game-winning run at the bottom of the 13th. The savvy outfielder also extended the game when he threw out a potential runner in the 10th inning. For the Dodgers, it was one of the longest evenings ever, as it was the longest since the 1916 World Series. The 13-inning game broke the record for the longest NLCS game in history. The Dodgers' Zach Greinke, who pitched eight innings, allowed only two runs and struck out ten batters, a personal record for the season.

Game Two: Without Hanley Ramirez, the Dodgers offense was severely handicapped. Ramirez, who was hit in the ribs in Game One, sat out the game with Andre Ethier. It was a duel of the pitchers with the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw allowing only two hits and the Cardinals' Michael Wacha allowing five hits with no runs. Wacha redeemed himself when he struck out Cuban wunderkind Yasiel Puig and Juan Uribe.

Game Three should be a storm of a game, as both teams are well-rested after the exhausting weekend in St. Louis. The Dodgers should also take advantage of the Los Angeles weather, with temperatures reaching as high as 27 degrees Celsius. The pitching matchup, featuring the Dodgers' Korean rookie Hyun-Jin Ryu and Cardinals veteran Adam Wainwright, is something to watch, but Clayton Kershaw will be the primary relief pitcher.
