The Manny Pacquiao camp has ramped up its psychological war with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. daring the American boxer to fight a “toe-to-toe” battle with the Filipino boxer. “Pacman’s” trainer Buboy Fernandez challenged the pound-for-pound king to engage in a standing still boxing match, which is obviously to the hard-hitting Pacquiao’s advantage.

“I challenged Mayweather to fight toe-to-toe with our Pinoy boxing idol. He should prove to the world even just for this fight that he’s not a poltroon,” Buboy Fernandez said via Philboxing.com. “Our country is so blessed to have him and we are so lucky to have been part of his breathtaking journey towards boxing immortality.”

Fernandez is confident in the progress of his ward that he even added that Pacquiao’s conditioning is so primed that the eight-division champion is ready to last even 20 rounds of championship boxing. While he said that the fight will consist of only 12 rounds, they are preparing the Filipino fighter for more than that to ensure his stamina given that anything can happen within the ring.

He added that their goal is to come away with a knockout victory but if ever that does not materialize, the would ensure that the 37-year-old Pacquiao wins convincingly by the points tallied after displaying an aggressors mentality throughout the fight. Pacquiao is hoping that Mayweather takes up on his offer and join his array of victims including Bradon Rios, Chris Algieri and Timothy Bradley, who chose to power punch against the heavy hitting Filipino.

Mayweather is expected not to relent on the challenge of Pacquiao’s camp and will stick to his tried and true approach of counter punching and looking for seams in the opponent’s defence. The fight which is touted as the riches in boxing history is also the most intriguing due to the contrast of style of the two fighters. Pacquiao prefers the brawl, all out melee type encounter while the 38-year-old Mayweather dictates a deliberate and disciplined style of boxing. Which style will prevail will be determined when these two best fighters in the world slug it out on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
