Projected to make a strong opening at the box office, the live action Disney movie "Maleficent," starring Angelina Jolie, has recently made a mark in the history of fairy tales.

The new Jolie movie premieres in theatres with its unique take that focuses on the witch who casts a spell on the young princess Aurora in the 1959 film "Sleeping Beauty."

"Maleficent," a name not so well-liked by lovers of princess-y happy endings and haters of revengeful witches, is shown in full candor as the soon-to-be 39-year-old Hollywood A-lister graces the silver screens sporting black horns and razor sharp cheekbones.

The Disney movie has been the talk of the town since Jolie has been billed to play the villainous witch. Moviegoers discussing the new live action Disney movie on various channels, including television and radio, have been wondering why kids these days want to watch a movie that is apparently "scary."

It appears that "Maleficent" is not all about being bad and scary. The new live action movie has lessons that wants to share to its viewers. The Disney movie digs in to Jolie's character, giving viewers the big picture at how the fairy was forced to become evil and how she was able to rise above it.

"It's such a great project I imagine I would have always considered it," Angelina Jolie told Bobby Thompson of Postmedia Network Inc. in an interview. "It was a crazy idea and I was so challenged by it."

The soon-to-be 39-year old actress also added that her children are watching the movie, sharing how "perfect" it was to have all the kids with her on set. Jolie's daughter Vivienne has been cast to play the young princess Aurora of "Sleeping Beauty."

According to a report from Reuters, chief analyst at Boxoffice.com Phil Contrino has projected "Maleficent" to bring $64 million in ticket sales during its weekend premiere in the U.S. and Canada with hints of large sales overseas.

Joining Jolie are Elle Fanning (Princess Aurora), Brenton Thwaites (Prince Phillip), Sharlto Copley (Stefan), Lesley Manville (Flittle), Imelda Staunton (Knotgrass), Kenneth Cranham (King Henry) and other talented stars.

After "Maleficent," Jolie is reportedly showcasing more of her talent in the movie "Unbroken," which is her second attempt to direct a movie after "In the Land of Blood and Honey." The movie is based on the real life story of an Olympic runner who was imprisoned during the World War II.

Reports confirm that Angelina Jolie's second attempt to direct is to be showcased in theatres on Dec 25, 2014.
