LG has released the LG Call app that will allow users to make calls through their smartwatch. The app is currently available only for LG Watch Urbane users and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, according to reports.

As the LG Watch Urbane does not feature cellular connectivity, the app will link the smartwatch with the Android based smartphone with which it is paired, reports Tech Times. LG Call app supports all Android smartphones that runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher versions. Users can also access the app by saying ‘open call’ to the smartwatch, as per the Tech Times report.

LG Watch Urbane users can access their contacts from the watch and make calls and to call on a number that does not exist in the contact list, users can feed the number into the dial pad on the watch and then have the phone call on their smartphone, reports Droid Life.

The upcoming LG Watch Urbane LTE version will allow users to make voice calls without using their smartphones and will feature LTE connectivity, according to Tech Times. The publication also mentions that the LG Watch Urbane LTE has been released in South Korea at a price of about $589.

According to a report on Ubergizmo, many users have expressed their dissatisfaction over LG’s decision to make the LG Call app available only on the LG Watch Urbane. LG has not revealed any plans to make this app available on all the existing Android smartwatches, mentions the Ubergizmo report.

The app should also be compatible with LG G Watch and LG G Watch R but currently, the app does not work on these smartwatches, says the Tech Times report.

The LG Watch Urbane features a circular watch face, a 320X320 P-OLED display and metal exterior. The 1.3-inch LG Watch Urbane also features a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and a 410 mAh battery, according to a PC World report.

Last month, Google had announced that Android Wear smartwatches can connect to a Wi-Fi network, which will allow users to get updates on their smartwatch. The Android Wear software update was first made available on the LG Watch Urbane.
