Still even at $7-$8 million, Lin has not yet established consistency with his play in the league and can’t even hold on to his starting spot in Houston.Lin has a chance to prove his worth in Hollywood this season. Jeremy Lin is the latest injured player for the Los Angeles Lakers after spraining his ankle in practice on Saturday. Lin joins a slew of other Lakers who has been sidelined by the injury bug in the Lakers training camp.

Jeremy Lin will be reevaluated Sunday but is most likely to be rested against the Golden State Warriors the same day.

“I think Robert Sacre kind of stepped on him, when they were playing five-on-five,” Lakers head coach said of the Jeremy Lin injury via NBA.COM. “He was in a little pain. He kind of walked out on his own, but he was in a little pain.”

The injury to Jeremy Lin appeared to be non-serious but the Lakers should be worried that they are missing key rotation guys in the training camp. The Lakers went 27-55 last season and they can’t afford another slow start in the upcoming 2014-2015 NBA Season.

Mike Trudell, a Lakers beat reported, also updated the status of Jeremy Lin:

Caught Lin walking out. He allowed for an “outside chance” he’d play tomorrow, but will see how it feels Sun. morning. It’s definitely sore.

Lakers Injured List

Jordan Clarkson, a supposed steal in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft, has a strained muscle in his left calf and is expected to be out at least one week. Nick Young injured his thumb on October 9 and was scheduled to be out for 6-to-8 weeks. “Swaggy P” is cleared for some basketball activities like running but will most likely re-join the team late November.

Meanwhile, stretch forward Ryan Kelly is still out with a hamstring injury although he like Young has been involved in some of the training already and no timetable of his return is given. Also with minor injuries are Xavier Henry and Wes Johnson.

The Lakers have started 40-year-old Steve Nash and 36-year-old Kobe Bryant in their 2014 preseason games. They have split their first two games with a 98-95 win over the Denver Nuggets on Monday and a 120-105 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.

The injury to Jeremy Lin should be a minor blow for the Lakers as the Asian-American guard who had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists vs. Golden State and had 10 assists in the game vs. Denver. The 26-year-old Lin averaged 12.5 points and 4.1 assists in the 2013-2014 NBA Season.

"He's still trying to get acclimated to what we're doing as well. So obviously the more I can play him, the more he's out there, the better for him. But, again, if that thing is real tender tomorrow, then we'll probably have to sit him down," Scott said admitting that Jeremy Lin will be a key part of the Lakers' backcourt rotation.

While the injury appears to be non-serious for Jeremy Lin, the Lakers can not afford to give major minutes to Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash early in the season. Lin, who was acquired via a trade with the Houston Rockets in the offseason, is expected to be a key player for the Lakers backing-up both the guard spots of Nash and Bryant.
