Google may have been too secretive when it comes to its Nexus 6 release date plans but thankfully information about the vanilla Android device are constantly provided by other sources.

And the latest piece of information about the next Nexus smartphone came from U.S. telco T-Mobile. According to 9to5Google, the handset is definitely real and will start selling in the last quarter of 2014.

The same report suggested that T-Mobile will be one of the numerous carriers to pick up Google's signature smartphone once it becomes available and while the device will remain native Android and bloat-free, the network service provider will insert a feature that Nexus fans will surely love - Wi-Fi calling.

The same feature is rumoured to be part of the Nexus 6 package, supported by the device's hardware and its Android operating system that likely is build 5.0. T-Mobile's part is providing the infrastructure for the service.

Obviously, Wi-Fi calling on the Nexus 6 is meant to tussle with the same feature that will be introduced with the iPhone 6. However, 9to5Google is noting that Wi-Fi calling is not really new to Android devices.

There are other Android phones that support the feature though the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 are not on the list, that is as far as T-Mobile is concerned. So in order to enjoy Wi-Fi calling in the same way that Apple fans will, Nexus fans will have to wait out for the Nexus 6.

And it appears the wait will not be for long as T-Mobile reportedly hinted that the device should be out in time for the 2014 holiday season, which is a timetable that is line with Google's Nexus release calendar, 9to5Google said.

Now what ingredients would make the Nexus 6 a worthy foe of the iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and other major flagships?

According to Phone Dog, the task ahead is quite easy for Google by simply tossing the following: the most recent Snapdragon CPU, at least 3GB of RAM, 16GB and 32GB of built-in storage with option to expand, a combo of 13MP rear shooter and a selfie-friendly front cam and 5-inch+ of display panel that boasts of Quad HD screen technology.

Running the device with a starting price of around $400 is Android L, which is also referred to as Lion or Lemon Meringue Pie (LMP).

The specs written above, of course, are close enough to the long-rumoured Nexus 6 specifications that out of the box is said to be called the Nexus X because Motorola is putting the device together using the Moto X as base-model.

And the Nexus 6 release date is likely happening in October 2014, at the earliest, or a few weeks following the Moto X global rollout this late September.
