The Android 5.0 Lollipop was released yesterday morning. This preview is only available for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 devices that can test run the latest version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. This is being called as almost the final version. The Android Lollipop will be officially released on November 3 for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7. The other devices will get the updates within the month of its official roll out. Both the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will be pre installed with the Android 5.0 Lollipop when the devices are released on their shipping dates.

There were apprehensions if the Nexus 4 will get the Android update as its name was not mentioned in the Google update list. According to Android Headlines the tech blog states that Google has confirmed that the Nexus 4 would indeed get the Android L update sometime in November. Many people thought that since the device was 18 months old it would no longer be supported. The official release will be for those who can wait for the update. But users who are impatient and would like to try the Android 5.0 Lollipop can use the preview version by flashing their device.

Android Headlines also go on to state that the XDA has already ported the final preview image over to the Nexus 4. It requires some caution and important things to remember before porting the device. As this is an early release so bugs are expected. The port is also less than 24 hours after the preview was launched and that developers have actively stated that they do not want any bug reports. This confirms that there are many problems. There are also some observations that the port is highly problematic and major issues at the setup stage while some have noted that the port is working just fine.

It is at the discretion of the user whether to port to Android 5.0 Lollipop before it is officially released.
