Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has signified his intention to leave Stamford Bridge, should he fail to reclaim his spot as Blues no. 1.

The 32-year-old Czech international is still very much in his prime and has put on one of the finest displays of his career last season, conceding only 27 goals in the Premier League in 34 appearances - the fewest among shot-stoppers.

However, a returning Thibaut Courtois, who is also coming off an excellent campaign with Atletico Madrid, helping the Rojiblancos win the La Liga and finish second in the Champions League, and is regarded as the future of the club, usurped his position, starting all of the west Londoners' competitive matches, except one Capital One Cup fixture, thus far.

"I have not spoken to anyone, but I think they know me well enough at the club (Chelsea) to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine," said the former Rennes man.

"With the Euros (in 2016) and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play."

"If the situation will not start to improve for me, then I will want to solve it."

Jose Mourinho expressed that he would want to keep both players in the club, but apparently, you can't have two big fishes in a pond of goalkeepers.
