Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard on Thursday ordered more relief efforts to Victorians affected by floods even as Queensland began the arduous and painful task of clean up and rebuilding.

To help them out during this difficult time, Prime Minister Gillard and Attorney-General Robert McClelland have announced further financial assistance available for Victorians affected by floods.

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) will be available for eligible Victorians and will provide $1,000 for each eligible adult and $400 for each eligible child.

Payments can be claimed on the Centrelink website or by calling 180 2266.

This announcement is in addition to the Disaster Income Recovery Subsidy which will provide income support for employees, small businesses and farmers who have lost income as a direct result of the floods.

These payments, as well as the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements and will help Victorians get back on their feet as they get on with the job of rebuilding their lives and cleaning-up.
