ASUS Nexus 7 2013 is now upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop version using the official LRX21P factory image from Google. It provides the native battery saving feature, revamps the user interface and adds a new runtime for smoother app performance.

Requirements:

1. Flash this official firmware to the unlocked variant of ASUS Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi. It is uncertain if the firmware will work on network carrier-locked Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi models.

2. Manually backup all data files including images and videos stored on the tablet.

3. Unlock the Boot loader before proceeding and performing the manual installation.

4. Battery level should be at least 80 per cent to avoid power interruption during the installation process.

5. Enable USB debugging mode on the ASUS Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi.

6. Download and install the necessary USB drivers on the computer.

7. Download and set up the ADB and Fastboot with Android SDK on the computer.

8. Download the official factory image of Android 5.0 Lollipop LRX21P razor-lrx21p-factory-ba55c6ab.tgz for ASUS Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi on the computer.

Warning: We are not responsible for any issues which may occur on your ASUS Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi tablet. Download and install the necessary files and read carefully on the instructions to avoid damaging the device. Do this at your own risk.

Flashing Instructions:

1. Connect the ASUS Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi tablet to the computer via USB connection.

2. Make sure that the Fastboot has been configured properly on the computer.

3. Turn off the ASUS Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi tablet.

4. Reboot into Boot loader Mode. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys at the same time until the Fastboot menu and "START" are displayed on the screen.

5. Go back to the computer and extract the contents from the downloaded firmware zip file to an easy location such as the desktop.

6. Open the razor-lrx21p folder then copy and paste all contents to the Fastboot directory. Fastboot directory should appear as platform-tools folder inside the Android SDK folder.

7. Run the factory image files inside the Fastboot folder appropriate to the OS running on the computer.

a. Windows OS: Run the flash-all.bat file.

b. MAC OS: Run the flash-all.sh using the Terminal.

c. Linux OS: Run the flash-all.sh file.

8. Let the installation proceed and do not interrupt the process. Additional on-screen instructions will appear in case the Boot loader has not been unlocked yet.

9. After the installation process, ASUS Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi will reboot automatically which may take up to five minutes before reaching the home screen.
