The film “American Sniper” was “snubbed” at the 87th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday night but this did not dampen the spirit of Taya Kyle – the widow of real life American Sniper Chris Kyle, who was present at the gala event. Taya clutched her late husband's dog tags as she attended the Oscar ceremony where the film “American Sniper” was nominated in six different categories. The mother-of-two children wished her brave husband was with her at the red carpet event.

"I didn’t think I had the energy to show up at the Oscars, let alone be presentable,” Taya wrote on Facebook page just before she flew from Texas to Los Angeles for the red carpet event. Taya is currently attending the murder trial for her husband's killer Eddie Ray Routh in Texas. But Warner Brothers (the studio behind the release of the film “American Sniper”) made it possible for her to return to Texas after the ceremony ended. She boarded the red-eye flight to reach Texas on time to attend the murder trial on Monday.

Taya said in her Facebook post that she wanted to attend the Oscar ceremony because she does not believe in “whining” and “wanted to support everyone who made this movie representing real veteran families.” Taya also thanked Warner Brothers for their support in “every aspect.” Actor Bradley Cooper played the role of Chris Kyle, who was killed on Feb. 2, 2013 along with his friend Chad Littlefield at a Texas shooting range.

Cooper was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor but he lost to actor Eddie Redmayne. Redmayne won the gong for his role in fil “Theory of Everything.” "American Sniper," however only took home one award in Best Sound Editing category. But Taya is not disheartened and praised Cooper saying he got the role “absolutely right” and her husband Chris would have been “proud” of him. She also choked up while talking about her husband on the red carpet. Check out the video below.
