A 24-year-old male Briton complained of rape while attending the Oktoberfest beer festival in Theresienwese, Munich. The unnamed victim went behind a bush to urinate when two men approached him and said they wanted to have sex with him.

When the man, said to be from Leeds, turn down the advance, the two pushed him to the ground and one man pinned him and the other sexually abused the victim.

After the rape at about 9:30 pm, the two assailants immediately left Theresienwiese, a large open space on Munich's outskirts where the beer festival is held annually. While most of the area is occupied by well-lit beer tenets and filled with festival goers, the perimeter have dark and quiet spots.

Although there are around 1,500 toilets for the beer fest and more urinals, millions participate in Oktoberfest that the toilets and urinals are usually not enough that some males instead go to the fields to answer the call of nature.

Besides the male rape, German police have reported an attempted rape of a woman, other incidents of sexual assault and brawls. As of Saturday, 670 crimes have been reported, lower by 20 percent compared to 2013. The complaints were stolen wallets, assaults and drunken fights.

So far, an estimated 3.3 million have participated, although the 16-day Oktoberfest, which started on Saturday and would end on Oct 5, is expected to attract 6.4 million people and boost the local economy by £252 million.

The 204-year-old festivity started in 1810 in honor of the wedding of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese von Sachen-Hildburghausen.

Here's a peek at how rowdy the Oktoberfest participants could be.
