Wendy Williams Taken To Hospital For Psychiatric Evaluation While Recovering From COVID-19

Wendy Williams was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation while she is still recovering from COVID-19

NYPD's spokesperson spoke with Page Six Thursday saying they received a call at 8:43 a.m. Tuesday requiring an ambulance to transport a 57-year-old woman residing at Williams' Manhattan residence for a psychiatric evaluation. The spokesperson did not drop the name but said the patient was taken to Beth Israel Hospital.

Meanwhile, sources close to the host told TMZ that she voluntarily admitted to an NYC hospital. She reportedly struggled with mental health issues for some time.

"It has been a very difficult time for Wendy. She’s a single woman with very few friends. She lost her marriage, her mom, and is living alone," an unnamed source told Page Six. "There is a lot on her plate."

The outlet noted that Williams tested positive for COVID-19, but she's asymptomatic. Sources said her COVID is still in check with no real symptoms.

The outlet was told that her mental health has continued to improve. Her doctors also continue to monitor her physical health.

The production of Williams' eponymous daytime talk show has been postponed. She also skipped the promotions for her show due to ongoing health issues.

"Wendy is dealing with some ongoing health issues and is undergoing further evaluations," a statement from her camp read earlier this month. "She will not be able to complete her promotional activities next week, but can’t wait to be back in her purple chair on Monday, September 20th for the 13th season premiere."

On Wednesday, she gave another update about her health and confirmed that she "tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19."

"To allow Wendy time to quarantine and fully recover and to ensure that our production abides by all SAG/AFTRA and DGA COVID protocols, we expect to begin the 13th season of 'The Wendy Williams Show' on Monday, October 4th. In the meantime, repeats will be scheduled," the statement added.

Williams' celebrity followers and fans sent their love and prayers to the talk show host. Many of them left encouraging messages in the comments section.

"Wishing you a speedy recovery, my friend. Sending you lots of love," Dr. Oz wrote.

"We love you Wendy [purple heart emoji]. Get well. We’ll be here when you’re ready," Devyne Simone added.

"Prayers up," Wendy Raquel Robinson wrote with a red heart emoji.
