Former professional football player, Jim Stynes and newly-retired cyclist, Lance Armstrong are likely to work together after the two found out their common interest during an informal meeting in January.

The future endeavors for the two great athletes were revealed by Stynes himself, who outlined their initial plans when interviewed by the Australian Associated Press (AAP).

According to NineMSN, citing the AAP, the two were together at the Tour Down Under, held in Adelaide in January. And the meeting has brought them together, said Stynes as they realized having causes in common.

Both have suffered from cancer. While Armstrong recovered from the ominous illness, Stynes is still fighting the disease. The football player has just undergone surgery late January to remove another tumor, said AAP, according to NineMSN.

Another factor that have bound the two together is the foundation each has set up.

Armstrong has set up his Livestrong, a foundation advocating for cancer-related issues and have worked to help cancer victims and raise awareness on the disease. For his part, Stynes has established Reach, a foundation for youth. Stynes reiterated that they have discussed possibilities to work together for future advocacies.

"We just started about the possibility of maybe our young kids doing something to support what he's doing for people with cancer,” Stynes was quoted as telling the AAP, said NineMSN.

Stynes emphasized that he left their meeting in January uplifted and empowered, reiterating that he now has higher regard for America’s greatest hero.

"You're sitting amongst greatness, it's a privileged feeling," Stynes said.
