A new list of actors said to be vying for the role of Peter Parker for the “Spider-Man” reboot have been released. According to reports, the list is down to five names and that Sony will start making test offers next week for these young stars.

According to The Wrap, Marvel and Sony Pictures are preparing to make test offers to several young stars next week for the role of Peter Parker. However, the studio has reportedly already narrowed down the names of these stars to five, including Natt Wolf, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet and Liam James.

It’s expected the new Peter Parker for the “Spider-Man” reboot will be unveiled two to three weeks after the test offers have been made. However, writer Jeff Sneider said that “none of the five actors above have test offers, but multiple individuals with knowledge of the situation have confirmed they are strong contenders who are definitely in the mix as of right now, and the group paints a picture of the kind of actor the studios want.”

Cinema Blend has detailed how these five young stars could fit the role of Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. Asa Butterfield may be less than 20 years old but he’s already starred in several movies including the science fiction “Ender’s Game” and has worked with acclaimed director Martin Scorsese in “Hugo.” He’s already portrayed numerous characters that he could reportedly bring some “emotional weight” to Peter Parker.

Natt Wolf has starred in the teenage drama “The Fault In Our Stars,” where he played as a blind cancer patient. He is said to be on the contenders list as well for Josh Boone’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand.” Having him as Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot while also in “The Stand” could reportedly cause schedule conflicts considering both movies are multi-film properties.

Cinema Blend claimed Liam James’ roles in the bittersweet comedy “The Way Way Back” and the comedic series “Psych” will help him land the role of Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. The actor may know how to portray the smartass hero who’s known for his humorous banter with villains.

Timothee Chalamet played as Matthew McConaughey’s son in “Interstellar” and is a common face in Showtime’s “Homeland.” He only has a few roles under his resume but having worked in “Interstellar” reportedly gives him leverage into stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tom Holland is the last contender for the role of Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. The young star is reportedly probably the least known actor among the five as he has yet to build up a strong resume. But he may get some tips about stepping into the MCU from Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) as both will be working together in the 2015 “In The Heart of the Sea.”
