During the Mobile World Congress 2017, there were three Sony phones that were released. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the flagship phone Sony has introduced. It has great specifications and features including the Motion Eye sensor that no other phone has.

Specs

Sony Xperia XZ Premium uses the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 CPU processor. On top of this, the phone also has 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of built-in storage, both on single or dual SIM layouts using a Nano SIM. The storage can be upgraded by a microSDX support of up to 256 GB. It also uses a USB Type-C connector for fast charging as well as improved data transfer. It will be running Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. The audio embedded in the XZ Premium is DSEE HX, a high-quality audio presence that heightens sound clarity.

Display

The display of the new Sony flagship sports a 4K high-definition resolution display that is apparently the first in the smartphone world. It uses the same technology as one of Sony’s other devices--the Sony Bravia TV. This means that the colours will be much better than any other smartphone can offer in the market.

Design

The design gives a premium feel to the phones with a seamless exterior. It has a premium glass loop that creates a mirror effect and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 in both the front and back. On top of this layout, the fingerprint sensor is now integrated with the power button of the phone, which makes it user-friendly.

A fingerprint sensor is now located on the power button and is also used to activate the phone from standby mode. It has two colour variants Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black.

Camera

The phone features an all new Motion Eye sensor to capture movement that the human eye cannot see. This is especially useful in capturing high definition slow motion videos.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium features a 5.5-inch display with a 960 frame per second slow motion video replay. Although its camera is only 19 MP compared to the regular Sony Xperia XZ’s 23MP camera, it has a sensor placed in there to improve low-light shots. In return, this also improves the pixels of the captured images and videos by 19 percent. Therefore, details are said to be strong when capturing or looking at images and videos. While the rear camera is 19 MP with the Motion Eye sensor, the selfie cam comes in with 13 MP and 22mm wide-angle lens.

Battery

The battery of the device is 3230mAh which provides longer usage of the phone compared to other premium flagships in the market. Furthermore, it has quick charge capabilities through the use of Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 835 chip as well as Qnovo Adaptive Charging.

Price and release

The price and release date are both currently unknown. However, it was said during the Mobile World Congress 2017 that the phone will be released in the Spring of 2017.
