At this point of the season in 2012, the Atlanta Falcons just had two losses and were dreaming of going all the way to the Super Bowl. A year later, those same Falcons have just two wins, tied for worst in the NFC, and can’t even hope for a playoff spot.

Atlanta faces NFC South rivals New Orleans Saints, which have turned their season around from last year’s disappointing performance leading the division and just two and a half games back off conference leaders Seattle Seahawks.

The Falcons are currently in a four-game losing streak, the last loss coming at the hands of the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 41-28.

In the first meeting of the season, the team’s opening games this year, the Saints defeated the Falcons, 23-17. Saints quarterback Drew Brees finished with 357 passing yards with 2 touchdowns in that game although Falcons QB Matt Ryan also had a respectable outing with 304 passing yards and also 2 TD.

Meanwhile, the Saints have won three of their last four games. They were hot off the gates-- 5-0 to begin the year-- and built on that good start for an 8-2 record so far.

A win against the Falcons will not only bring them closer to the Seahawks’ record but probably more importantly, create some distance off the Carolina Panthers, who have won six straight games and are currently just a game back for the division lead.

The Saints are 2nd overall in the NFL in passing yards per game at 321.9 while limiting the opposition to just 191.4 passing yards per outing or 6th best pass defense in the league.

New Orleans has taken five of the last six match-ups with Atlanta.
