Many people originally thought “Rap God” rapper Marshall Mathers III, professionally known as Eminem, was black. This is one of the things his fellow members of the hip hop group from Detroit, Michigan, called D12, recently revealed.

Eminem is the frontman of D12. Currently, his fellow members are Von Carlisle, professionally known as Kuniva, Ondre Moore, professionally known as Swifty McVay, Rufus Arthur Johnson, professionally known as Bizarre, and Denaun Porter, professionally known as Kon Artis.

In a recent interview with Vlad TV, Kuniva said people who listened to Eminem’s rap songs did not think that he was white before he rose to fame. He added that people were surprised when they found out that the D12 frontman was actually a “white dude,” and they had to see the “Rap God” rapper in person to “make sure.”

“They’d come up there and they’d watch this guy at the Hip Hop Shop just killing cats, man,” Kuniva added. “You knew you were seeing something special. You knew it was something that you wouldn’t see again.”

McVay added that they did not stop telling people that they needed to hear Eminem’s music. According to him, they were very vocal when it came to acknowledging Eminem’s skills.

In another recent interview with Hollywood Life, Eminem’s fellow D12 members also talked about the days when the Detroit rapper was not yet the “Rap God” rapper. They revealed that their frontman originally joined their hip hop group as Slim Shady.

Bizarre told the publication that Eminem was a mystery to them. He said Eminem did not go to regular events, as he was the champion of the hip hop show battles at the time.

According to Bizarre, they just knew the present D12 frontman as “that white guy Eminem” and a good rapper. Eventually, Bizarre said they became so close that they even “slept on floors together and farted and ate pizza.”
