Morgan Spurlock disclosed some thoughts on One Direction’s future following Zayn Malik’s exit last month. While the director of the popular boyband’s film “This Is Us” believes that the group is doing well as a foursome, he also thinks Harry Styles will be the next to branch out on his own.

In an interview with TMZ, Spurlock said that the remaining members of 1D Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan will stay together for a while, but considers Styles to be the next one to opt for a solo career. "I think they'll stay together for a little bit longer and then I think at some point Harry will probably leave," he said, as quoted by Billboard. He added that he thinks Payne, Horan and Tomlinson will probably become the next “Bel Biv Devoe,” a group formed by three former members “New Edition.”

While Spurlock previously said that he was upset when Malik decided to make an official exit from the band, he also admitted that he already saw it coming. He believed Malik was “the most talented guy in that group,” and it was only inevitable that he would soon see himself more as a solo artist.

“All of them are talented singers -- that’s why they were all put together -- but to make the decision to leave and go off on your own and chase a solo career in the midst of being as famous as you are, as successful as you are -- you can’t fault someone for that,” Spurlock said, as quoted by IBTimes. He added that he gave his full support to Malik, thinking that the 22-year-old chose a good time to give his own career a shot.

Even Simon Cowell, 1D’s mentor since it was formed on “The X-Factor” said in an interview on “The Late Show With James Corden” that Malik needed some time off. He revealed that he tried to convince Malik to stay with the band a bit longer, but eventually believed that his departure was for the best, adding that he will just focus on making 1D’s next album the best one yet.

Malik quit 1D last month shortly after ditching the group’s Asian leg of its recent world tour. In an official statement, he said that he wanted to be “a normal 22-year-old” and to be away from the spotlight for a while. He has been reportedly working with British music producer Naughty Boy, who recently released a preview of “I Won’t Mind,” which the pair created. Malik has also received his first solo award for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the Asian Awards in London.
