The Philadelphia Eagles faced the New York Jets on Thursday and the game appears to be the final chance for quarterbacks Tim Tebow and Matt Barkley to audition for a roster slot.

NFL teams are required to submit their 53-man roster to the league on Saturday, the deadline on which players will be part of the respective roster in the upcoming 2015 NFL Season.

The Eagles have already a starting quarterback in Sam Bradford, who was acquired by Philadelphia in a trade with the St. Louis Rams earlier in the offseason. Tebow and Barkley are fighting to become the third quarterback in the Eagles line-up after Bradford, who has had suffered different injuries throughout his NFL career and Mark Sanchez, pegged as the primary back-up QB.

In their game against the Jets, which the Eagles lost, 24-18, Barkley got the starting nod but Tebow played under center for most of the snaps of the game.

The 24-year-old Barkley was intercepted in the Eagles’ first drive of the game and the 28-year-old Tebow substituted in immediately in the next drive for the Eagles.

Tebow finished with 189 passing yards on 11 of 17 completions with 2 touchdowns and in interception while Barkley had 45 passing yards on 4 of 9 completions with an interception. Tebow was sacked twice and Barkley once.

This was the Eagles’ first loss in the preseason after winning against the Indianapolis Colts, 36-10, Baltimore Ravens, 40-17 and Green Bay Packers, 39-26 in their first three games. Philadelphia opens the new NFL season against the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 15.
