The Oklahoma City Thunder’s superstar pair of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook joined non-contact practice drills on Friday— a good sign that the duo are near their return date to the court and to the active line-up of the Thunder, which are currently the worst team in the Western Conference with a 3-11 win-loss record.

“They looked good,” OKC head coach Scott Brooks shared to newsok.com. “They’ve been with the group the whole time, but [Saturday] was the first day they’ve actually participated in some of the drills. It wasn’t the entire practice.”

Team doctors have yet to clear Durant and Westbrook for the contact drills and full-blown practices but Brooks was happy to see both guys re-joining the team even in light practices.

“It was good to see them out there with the group,” Brooks added in the same article. “They’re progressing well. I’m sure in the next couple of days they’re going to continue to add more to it.”

Durant has a fractured right foot and had surgery on it on Oct. 16 and was given a timetable of two months for a return. Meanwhile, Westbrook had a fracture in the second metacarpal of his right hand and is set to comeback a month after his surgery last Nov. 7. Durant has yet to suit up for the Thunder this season and averaged 32.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists in the 2013-2014 NBA Season. Westbrook played in the first two games this season including dropping 38 points in their season-opener in a 106-89 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Still without Durant and Westbrook, the Thunder will again try to hold the fort without their leaders. On Sunday, Oklahoma City hosts the Golden State Warriors, one of the best teams currently in the Western Conference. Combo guard Reggie Jackson, who has an expiring contract with the Thunder after this season, is averaging career-high numbers without their star duo.

Jackson is averaging 19.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists so far this season. He had 21 markers and 8 dimes against the Brooklyn Nets in their last game but his Thunder lost 94-92 after OKC blew a double-digit advantage.
