For couples, a ring could be a symbol of love or commitment. Recently, world-ranked tennis star Maria Sharapova shared a picture of a ring that she reportedly received from her boyfriend, fellow tennis athlete Grigor Dimitrov.

"I got this #lineandjo ring exactly a year ago in #Stockholm," Sharapova captioned the photo on Instagram. "Such nice memories and a beautiful addition to my jewel box."

Sharapova didn't say exactly who gave her the ring. According to Bulgarian news outlet Standart News, the ring was a gift from Dimitrov. "Apparently, with this demonstration Maria is refuting allegations that she and Grigor are not an item anymore," the website wrote.

About the same time last year, online tennis portal 10balls.com reported that Sharapova and Dimitrov were in Sweden. The Russian superstar was forced to withdraw from the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Championships in Istanbul in 2013 and decided to train in the city. Dimitrov, on the other hand, had also set up his own camp in the city with his newly appointed coach Roger Rasheed.

In October 2013, Dimitrov won his first Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour title in the If Stockholm Open. He upset the top seed Spaniard David Ferrer, 2-6 6-3, 6-4. Dimitrov is currently in Stockholm to defend his title. He received a first round bye and faced Teymuraz Gabashvili of Russia in the next round. He defeated Gabashvili in straight sets, 7-5, 7(7)-6(4). Dimitrov will now play against American tennis player Jack Sock in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Sharapova is in Singapore for the WTA Finals. She was the second player to qualify for the year-end final tournament in the WTA tour. It will be the seventh time that Sharapova will be participating in the said event. She made her debut in 2004, where she defeated Serena Williams in the finals.

In 2013, Sharapova pulled out of the tournament because of her shoulder injury, the same injury that made her go missing in action in the WTA Finals in 2008 and 2009. Sharapova is looking forward to win her second WTA Finals trophy. The tournament officially begins on October 20 and will end on October 26.
