“Gotham” is already in its third season and the characters are slowly becoming who they are destined to be. The Dark Knight might be as fierce and brutal as his fans know him to be. However, it is a fact that he does not kill. Some of the earlier portrayals of Batman show otherwise, but after a violent story in the first issue disgusted DC editor Whitney Ellsworth, Batman’s vow not to kill anyone has become a distinguishing feature. In the “Gotham” winter finale, fans saw the show’s version of how Bruce Wayne committed to that vow.

Previously, Bruce came face to face with Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) who just came back from the dead with a new and grotesque facelift. Bruce was kidnapped and taken to a carnival that looks like it came straight out of bedtime nightmares. They square off in a hall of mirrors. Bruce ends up on the winning end, in which Jerome dares him to kill. Bruce gets some clown facepaint and looks at the monster that he is transforming into.

When Jerome gets arrested and Alfred picks up Bruce, he reveals that he will never ever kill. This statement cements one big step into the young man as he transforms into the Dark Knight.

Meanwhile, one of his soon-to-be archenemies is also coming of age; and that is no other than Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith). Nygma was featured in the latest YouTube trailer already donning his popular green suit as he transforms into The Riddler.

The show will return on April 24 with an episode titled “How the Riddler Got His Name” and we will see Nygma embrace his new identity as the twisted and cunning genius of a villain. In the trailer, he is seen already transforming into his alter ego as he says that all his life, he had always felt that there was somebody else inside of him.

Gotham” is currently in its mid-season break. The show will return on April 24 in the US where it airs at 8 p.m. on FOX. It can also be watched in Australia via the SyFy Channel.
