There will be a lot of new things to expect in this season of “Gotham.” While everyone seems hyped over Cameron Monaghan’s next reveal, another iconic Batman villain is on the verge of unveiling himself on the show. What is even more exciting is that this will be done in a manner that has never been seen before, as “Gotham” always does.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “Gotham” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens before the next episode airs.

Edward Nygma has surely gone though a lot of character development and viewers have seen him go from an introvert into a creative genius of an antagonist. This only means that, sooner or later, viewers will get to see actor Cory Michael Smith take on the persona that everybody has been waiting for: The Riddler.

Smith reveals what his future in “Gotham” looks like in a recent interview, and it does not look like anything that viewers have seen before. Smith says that his role is performative -- but not in a Jim Carrey way. He also wants his character to be showy. What they have as The Riddler costume is very classy, which is exactly what they wanted.

According to Cinema Blend, Smith was very detailed in describing how his story as The Riddler gets opened in Episode 15. He reveals that he would be the exact opposite of Edward Nygma when he was first introduced to viewers on the show. He added that he would be more theatrical in his gestures, while he remains more psyched as he immerses in his sinister plans.

While this might excite a lot of fans, the sad news is that there will be one element from The Riddler’s classic costume that will not be seen on the show. Smith reveals that he does not have a cane yet. However, he wants one so badly for a lot of reasons.

Showrunner Bruno Heller’s approach to developing this iconic character was done perfectly since forming it should not be a rushed process. Ed Nygma cannot just take a walk in the park and appear as The Riddler in all his sinister glory when he returns.

Gotham” airs Mondays on FOX in the US. In Australia, it can be seen on SyFy. Meanwhile, check out the White Band trailer released on the show's newly resurrected villains, Jerome, below.
