An upcoming movie by Sam Taylor-Wood, "Fifty Shades of Grey" is based on the best-selling erotic novel of the same name by E.L. James. Scheduled to be released on Feb. 13, 2015, the movie stars Jamie Dornan as the famous Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, including Rita Ora as Mia Grey, Luke Grimes as Elliot Grey and Eloise Mumford as Katherine Kavanagh.

After the book's release and based on the growing number of fans, many film companies are interested to make a film adaptation of the book. By June 2012, Smash Pictures, a pornographic film company, announced their intention to film an adult version of "Fifty Shades trilogy with title: "Fifty Shades of Grey: A XXX Adaptation.

The porn film company scheduled their release date on Jan. 10, 2013 but in March 2012 Universal Pictures and Focus Features secured the film's rights and filed a lawsuit against Smash Pictures. The lawsuit was then settled and the film company agreed to stop the promotion and production of the film.

By May 9, 2013, Joe Wright was considered to direct the film but due to scheduling conflicts he couldn't work with the film. Directors who were considered for the film were Peter Soderbergh, Patty Jenkins, Bill Condon and Bennett Miller. But by June 2013 E.L. James announced Sam Taylor-Wood would direct the film adaption.

Now that the film's director has been secured, the casting of the film posed a great challenge since E.L. James first choice for Christian Grey's character was Robert Pattinson - he was not available for the film. Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, Chace Crawford and Alexis Bledel were also considered for Christian and Anastasia's role respectively.

On September 2, 2013, "Fifty Shades" author announced in her Twitter account that "Sons of Anarchy" actor Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson have been cast as the two lead characters. Elizabeth Olsen, Shailene Woodley, Felicity Jones and Imogen Poots are some of the actresses who were short listed for Anastasia's role.

In the same month, the filming of the movie was scheduled to start on Nov. 5, 2013 in Vancouver, British Columbia but it was moved on Nov. 13 as announced by producer Michael De Luca. Due to the number of schedule conflicts, Hunnam withdraw from the role and Jamie Dornan replaced him as Christian Grey on Oct. 23, 2013

Victor Rasuk was cast as Jose Rodriguez, Jr on Oct. 31, Eloise Mumford as Kate Kavanagh on Nov. 22, Rita as Christian's sister Mia on Dec. 2 and Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden as Grace Grey was casted on Dec. 3.
