Always outspoken and constantly controversial, Mark Cuban has one wish this season; that the Los Angeles Lakers “suck forever” according to the Dallas Mavericks owner speaking in a local radio interview in Los Angeles.

As the special guest in “The Fred Roggin Show” on the Beast 980 a radio station in L.A., Cuban spoke like a true rival of the Lakers team, which is off to their worst start in franchise history.

“As far as the Lakers go, I think there are going to be a lot of teams that are saying, “I’ve got a ton of cap room,” and signing three big free agents to come play for them,” Cuban stated in the radio show on Wednesday. “Los Angeles has always been considered a destination city, so maybe they feel that’s a valid strategy. You know me, Fred. Personally, I just hope they suck forever.”

While the new Mark Cuban quotes wishes that the Lakers’ struggles continue, the 56-year-old owner still showed respect for the Hollywood franchise admitting that they are a prime destination for free agents in the past and in the future.

The Lakers have a chance to reload their roster to hasten their rebuilding in the next free agency. The roster features players with expiring contracts like Jeremy Lin ($8.4M), Carlos Boozer ($3.2M), Steve Nash ($9.7M). Despite Kobe Bryant’s gigantic $25 million deal in 2015-2016, the Lakers will open up some cap space and potentially can sign one or two big-name players who will demand a huge salary depending on the salary cap set for that season.

The Lakers currently own a 2-9 win-loss record, the second worst in the entire league and barring any major improvement from the players within the roster or a probable Lakers trade within the 2014-2015 season, they are due for another lottery appearance. Cuban’s Mavericks meanwhile are sitting pretty with an 8-3 card and considered playoff, if not, title contenders, this season.

Potential 2015 NBA free agents include Marc Gasol, Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kawhi Leonard, Goran Dragic and Rajon Rondo, among others. For Mark Cuban, he’s hoping that none of those big names will land with the Los Angeles Lakers and that their rivals continue to “suck” for a few more years.
