The man accused of the Claremont serial killings appeared in court for the second time on Wednesday. Following a short hearing in Perth, the case was adjourned for eight weeks.

Bradley Robert Edwards, 48, the alleged Claremont serial killer, is accused of murdering Jane Rimmer in 1996 and Ciara Glennon in 1997. The deceased are two of three women who disappeared in Claremont.

According to AAP (via Sky News), 23-year-old Jane was kidnapped on June 9, 1996. She was out with her friends on a night out. Her body was found in Wellard on August 3, 1996. Glennon, 27, is alleged to have been abducted the following year, on March 14. Her body was discovered in Eglington on April 3, 1997.

The charges brought against Edwards include two counts of alleged deprivation of liberty, two of alleged aggravated sexual penetration without consent, one alleged break and enter with intent and one of alleged indecent assault. The suspect has also been accused of raping a 17-year-old in 1995 and faces a charge of indecent assault of another woman in 1988.

He does not face any charges concerning the suspected killing of Sarah Spiers, who disappeared from Claremont in 1996. Her body has not been found and the investigation surrounding her disappearance is ongoing.

Following a raid of Edwards’ home last month, police found several bags of evidence. His former home in Huntingdale was also searched in the subsequent weeks. His former wives were questioned and forensic tests were carried out on a vehicle he drove in the 90s.

Jane’s sister, Lee Rimmer, described the pain she and her family have been experience since their loved one’s death. “I’ve had this image of what he might be like in my head for the last 20 years,” Lee said, speaking with News Corp.

In his most recent court appearance, Edwards showed up through a video link from Hakea Prison. The hearing was over with the case being adjourned for eight weeks. According to prosecution lawyer Carmen Barbagallo, documents will be provided to Edward's lawyer over this period. The suspect will remain in custody until his subsequent appearance on March 29.
