British boxing champion Kell Brook postponed his title fight against Diego Chavez of Argentina on Saturday due to a rib injury he sustained during a training session.

Both Brook and his manager, Eddie Hearn, confirmed the bad news on Twitter. Brook was reportedly advised by doctors not to go ahead with the bout.

Brook, who is undefeated in 35 career bouts with 24 knockouts, was set to defend his International Boxing Federation welterweight belt against Chavez this Saturday at the Sheffeld Arena in Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

According to reports, the Brook vs. Chavez fight will be rescheduled later in 2015 with the rest of the fight card for the Oct. 24 fight in Sheffeld. The Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Tony Jeter fight will take over as the main event.

The fight against Chavez would have been the third title defence for Brook, who is ranked the no. 1 contender in the welterweight division, ahead of rivals Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, who are in second and third place, respectively.

Brook won the IBF welterweight belt last year when he beat American Shawn Porter via a 12-round majority decision victory. The British pro has defended the title twice in 2015, beating Ionut Dan Ion of Romania and fellow British boxer Frankie Gavin in March and May, respectively.
